Shaughnessy may be best known for golf, but as members will attest, our tennis programs and facilities offer year-round camaraderie and fun. Tennis enthusiasts of all levels can enjoy eight hard courts during the summer and four during the winter in the Indoor Tennis Centre. Traditional Wimbledon whites set the stage, while a relaxed, west coast vibe sets the tone for a welcoming, inclusive environment where tennis members feel like family. It’s about access and the ability to find a free afternoon, grab your racket, and show up being assured that you can quickly find a game and make some new friends.
We have private and group lesson programs for all ages and all levels run by Tennis Canada certified staff. Almost all of our events, social or competitive, wrap up with a ceremony dinner where members enjoy the full Shaughnessy dining experience. Need help choosing new gear? The helpful staff in our Tennis Pro Shop are happy to take care of you.

TERM TENNIS
- Applications are available for term tennis memberships.
- The entrance fee for term tennis is $12,000.
- All term membership categories will expire on November 30, 2032.*
- Full booking privileges on our indoor and outdoor tennis courts.
- Access to all tennis activities, events and tournaments.
- Unrestricted access to the dining facilities and Fitness Centre.
- Access to the Golf Practice Facilities upon the purchase of an annual range pass.
- Restricted golfing privileges.
*May be extended beyond November 30, 2032 at the discretion of the Board.
TENNIS AMENITIES
- From beginner clinics to advanced group play, members enjoy an active schedule, complete with men’s and ladies’ nights and social mixers with guest participation.
- Junior programs and clinics are offered year-round.
- Whether you watch from the viewing lounge, take a lesson with one of our tennis professionals, head to the Fitness Centre after your match, or get over-ruled for cocktails on the patio, Shaughnessy offers a grand slam of tennis amenities to enjoy.
A VANCOUVER TREASURE SINCE 1978
Though we are known globally for our golf course, Shaughnessy has hosted numerous national tennis championships and competitions since 1978 when tennis returned to Shaughnessy, including the Fed Cup in 1996, the Tomorrow’s Champion Fundraiser in 2011, and the Steve Stevens Senior Nationals in 2017.
The Club itself was founded in 1911 when Vancouver was just 25 years old. First located on Canadian Pacific Railway lands, the Club moved in 1960 to the ancestral site of the Musqueam Nation’s winter village.
Shaughnessy is a Vancouver landmark that’s rich in history and time-honoured traditions; it has welcomed world leaders, hosted historic matches between golf legends, and held numerous golf championships — including four Canadian Opens between 1948 and 2011.
